If there’s one time of year that you need your immune system to be in top shape more than any other, it’s the wintertime. This season can throw all kinds of challenges at our immunity. First, there’s the cold weather and the changes of temperature your body is subjected to as you move from place to place. It’s also flu season, and all kinds of colds and viruses can strike this time of year.
At the same time, many people are spending more time indoors, which means less time in the sun prompting our body to generate immune-protecting vitamin D. Then there’s all that comfort food and holiday eating to contend with. Even the most weight-conscious individuals tend to let loose at this time of year as the holiday food temptations prove difficult to resist and layers of winter clothes make it easy to hide a few extra pounds.
Winter can also be an incredibly stressful time of year as the holidays approach, making us even more susceptible to illness.
How can you give yourself the best chances of getting through this season unscathed? In a video posted to Brighteon.com, Healing the Body founder Derek Henry shares his cleverly crafted version of an immunity-boosting smoothie that will give your body what it needs to get through the season.
He recommends making this healthy smoothie every day. One of the best things about this approach is that it’s incredibly easy. Yes, you could cook yourself a meal with immune-boosting foods each day, but tossing all these ingredients in the blender is a fuss-free way to pack a lot of nutrients into one meal.
Simply add these ingredients to your blender and process until smooth:
-2 cups of frozen mango
-8 ounces coconut milk
-16 ounces water
-Juice of half a lime
-Juice of half a lemon
-Small handful of parsley
-1 tsp Organic Seven Treasures mushroom powder
-1 tsp organic turmeric powder
-1 scoop Fermented Super30
-1 tsp raw or Manuka honey
-2 tbsp organic extra-virgin coconut oil
These ingredients were chosen because of their synergistic effects, and they’re also fairly easy to keep on hand. Two of the most important ingredients are often overlooked when people make smoothies. The first is the Health Ranger’s Fermented Super30, which is a non-GMO and vegan formula that contains more than 30 top superfoods, such as papaya, avocado, brazil nut, ginger and red grape. These organic superfoods are fermented, which means they can be easily absorbed by your body and assimilated.
Another ingredient you might not already have on hand is the Seven Treasures Mushroom Powder. This is an easy and efficient way to get beneficial mushrooms like reishi, cordyceps, maitake, lion’s mane and shiitake mushrooms into your system so they can work their immune-boosting magic. For example, yogurt and kefir are natural sources of probiotics, and the good gut health they provide can boost your immunity dramatically. The lemon and lime are included in part because of their vitamin C content, but when you’re in the mood a different flavor, use orange or kiwi instead. You might also like to add some foods to your smoothie that are rich in vitamin A. Dark leafy greens are great sources, but carrots also work well in smoothies.
This recipe has been formulated specifically to provide incredible immunity benefits, but there’s no reason you can’t customize it from time to time depending on your concerns and tastes!
