Selenium is a key element needed by the body’s immune system, according to Howard Armistead, an expert and researcher whose main focus is on the element.
“If you are not having a health problem and you want to stay healthy, 200 micrograms of selenium a day will help keep you healthy,” he told chiropractor Dr. Bryan Ardis during the Dec. 7 episode of “The Dr. Ardis Show” on Brighteon.TV. “It’s the strongest thing to help prevent cancer, among other things.”
“If you have cancer, it can work with other drugs or without other drugs [to help] slow cancer down; in some cases, even reverse the cancer process. Although you think that’s extraordinary, it is … because selenium is the key element needed for the immune system.”
According to Armistead, anyone who is hospitalized or in intensive care needs to get large doses – six tablets a day – of selenium for their health issues. He added that most people would only need one tablet to address their health problems.
He compared daily intake of selenium to having “an inner mask boosting [the] immune system.”
“If a virus does infect you, it will bounce back immediately. Your immune system will get going much stronger and try to get that virus out. And even if it’s not able to prevent the infection, it will reduce the effects of the infection.”
According to Armistead, many people who died from HIV, Ebola and Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) had a serious depletion of selenium. He noted that as selenium falls off, the immune system also falls off. But if a person is able to put selenium back in time, the immune system will be able to bounce back. Armistead added that a very rapid decrease in selenium happens in the human body because viruses need selenium to form their protective skin. To accomplish this, the pathogens target the selenium in the body’s cells, depleting them of this element.
Ardis agreed, citing a study from Georgia which found that the HIV virus was destroying selenium reservoirs throughout the body. Giving HIV positive patients selenium supplements prevented a full-blown AIDS from developing in the entire study group, the study found.
Armstead pointed out that selenium acts like a fuel for the immune system. When the human body runs low on fuel, the immune system is not going to work.
He cited an article written by Margaret P. Rayman entitled “The Importance of Selenium to Human Health” and published in The Lancet medical journal. Rayman wrote that selenium is a key nutrient counteracting the development of virulence.
Armistead said it means that a person who has enough selenium in the body is going to prevent cold or flu viruses from becoming active. He also emphasized that a person needs to get more selenium as they grow old.
Ardis stated that selenium is beneficial to almost all aspects of a person’s life regardless of COVID-19, and that everybody should be supplementing selenium for the rest of their life.
Armistead ultimately said selenium is the best thing that a person can do for their health.
“If you could only take one single vitamin or mineral I would say take selenium because selenium is the key to the immune system. There is no other vitamin or mineral that is a better fuel for the immune system than selenium,” Armistead said.
